Studio Specialist - Painting and Plaster

Birdstudio is an art house and fabrication studio in Germantown, Philadelphia. We specialize in fine finishes, venetian plasterwork, murals, feature walls, and gilding. You can find images of our wide range of services on www.birdstudio.com. In recent years, jobs have included faux finishing wood beams in the Comcast Center, a hand painted mural at Suraya, creating a dimensional cheesesteak for Campo’s Deli signage, and a damask stencil plaster finish at Bar Poulet (among many other fun and unique jobs). We work with Philly’s top restaurants, brands, and design firms. 

 

We’re looking for an individual with fine painting skills and venetian plastering ability to complement our team of craftspeople. You should have a good eye and a steady hand, and come with some experience. We will train you in what you don’t yet know, and you can expect to come away with valuable skills learned from the best in the biz. 

 

Requirements:

 

  • 1-2 years experience in related position (painting, fine finish, studio environment, mural painting, lettering, etc) or comparable experience

  • Ability to work independently with direction and take ownership of projects

  • Reliable, timely, and a good communicator

 

At Birdstudio, you’ll be working under the expert supervision of owner Zack Bird, who is a specialist in a wide range of techniques, from fine painting to industrial design and everything in between. The collaborative environment will give you the chance to learn from the experts here, while honing your skills on a variety of projects. 

 

In your application, please note if you have any of the following skills (a bonus but not required!):  CAD design, Illustrator, Photoshop, graphic design, photography, woodworking, metal fabrication, hand lettering, and fine art painting. *If you have work online, please send a link. 

 

This is a contract position that is job-based. Large jobs are scheduled weeks or even months in advance, while smaller jobs may have a shorter turn around.
